How to Structure Your Program – Some Options

Points Program

The most common structure of an incentive program is to base it simply on points. Those participants who put forth a greater effort toward the program goals earn more points. Each item in the catalog has a point value attached that is, generally, commensurate with its retail value. Participants trade in their points to "buy" gifts from the catalog. By using points instead of dollar values, your program administrator can adjust the point-value of each item to steer participants to those items on which you have a better margin.

Levels Program

Levels programs are based on the 80/20 rule. This means 80 percent of the desired output is done by 20 percent of those who could. More than a simple catalog of gifts, levels programs specify increments of accomplishment that correlate with dramatic increases in reward value. While "bronze" finishers may receive a t-shirt, those who achieve the far-more-difficult "gold" level may be rewarded with a flat panel television or weekend vacation package. Simply put, levels programs encourage participants to achieve more.

Instant Recognition

Sometimes rather than a structured incentives program, you just want to give an employee, a valued client, or a prospective customer a spontaneous gift on the spot. You may have just met a purchasing agent at a tradeshow, and you want to give her an excuse to visit your site and set up a follow-up meeting with your company. With Instant Recognition Clicks, you can pre-print cards to give away--even if you don’t know the names or email addresses of the recipients! To redeem the gift, the potential client visits your site, provides contact information, and chooses one of several gifts you’ve pre selected. This is an excellent way to qualify a lead or otherwise conduct an online survey to gain valuable information.
